Island Life

7/13/2010

We took off to the island of Nantucket on Saturday morning.  This is one special island with people coming to the same place to vacation for years.  The band all arrived about 3:00 on the ferry.  We then headed directly to the club for a sound check.  And, it was hot.  I have been to Nantucket every summer for the past 7 years and it has never been as hot as it was this weekend.  Now, hot in Nantucket is still pretty nice (70s temps) but for Nantucket -- where most of the houses do not have air conditioning -- it was unreal hot.

After sound check, we headed back to our respective 'pads' to change and get ready.  The show went off like no ones business.  We had a blast. It turns out, this is the same stage where Dave Matthews recorded one of his CDs, Hootie and the Blowfish used to play on this stage, and a host of other great bands.

The people were as nice as they could be at the club and the patrons...well they were the best part.  That night, we decided to go out on the town (one of us.....not naming any names, had one too many drinks) and then head back for a bit of R&R.  The next day, we all landed ourselves on the beach.  On Sunday night, we were able to hit the stage again!  This time, the show was even better - and I am not sure why, but it just felt better.

Next stop?  Delaware!  Should be fun!
